Fourth-generation builder Cal Detwiler began learning his craft growing up and working with his dad and brother on the Big Island of Hawaii. Koa Built Customs is named for the rare and coveted native Hawaiian hardwood Koa Tree and all that it embodies: Strength. Beauty. Resilience.

Mountain Shadows West

Remodel and addition in the coveted Mountian Shadows West community. Saved most of the existing structure, raised the roof, and added 1,500 SF. Full site landscape package included.











Sage Drive Hillside
PARADISE VALLEY
One of the best streets and views on Camelback Mountain. Saved the original 1960s slump block exterior walls, and constructed a completely new roof and interiors for a discerning retired builder/developer.












Madison MCM
BILTMORE
Updated a beautiful and unique Ralph Haver-designed home, staying true to the original while creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere for a deserving young family.




Mummy Mountain Spa
PARADISE VALLEY
Completed a tricky major interior remodel of spa bath that demanded virtually dust-free conditions while the clients remained in residence.



















Arcadia Lite Custom Overhaul

Breathed new life into this dilapidated 1960s ranch-style home on an overgrown site, saving only the foundation and a single exterior masonry wall that guided the theme for this major renovation/addition.

Las Sendas Family Custom
LAS SENDAS
Constructed this warm, comfortable family home with modern lines, curated pool and landscape, and framed views of Red Mountain.

Built six luxury units that are within walking distance of Old Town. They are three levels with rooftop walk decks, and include optional elevators and spacious garages.








Clearwater Hills Gem
PARADISE VALLEY
Completed a back-to-the-studs gut and remodel of a tired and rundown 1960s ranch-style house with gorgeous 270 degree views of Camelback Mountain.










Desert Botanical Garden - Terrace, Portal & Heritage Garden
PHOENIX
Multiple intricate improvement projects were performed while the Garden remained open to the public and continued to operate. Complex elements include hardscape, retaining walls, a decorative steel art structure, and a water feature.







The Newton Mixed-Use

This adaptive reuse project breathed new life into the vacant, dilapidated iconic property formerly known as The Beefeater restaurant on Camelback Road.







Undefeated Retail

This adaptive reuse interior tenant improvement for hip shoe and clothing retailer, Undefeated, created space that showcases their brand.




Silvercar

This adaptive reuse rehabilitation project converted a vacant and run-down commercial shell into a bright and welcoming space for Silvercar to rent its fleet of Audis.
